SHPE Mission Statement:
SHPE changes lives by empowering the Hispanic community to realize its fullest potential and to impact the world through STEM awareness, access, support, and development.
Suruchi Kallakunta is the President of SHE! Graduated in Biomedical Engineering in May 2023 and is currently a Master's student studying Engineering Management. Suruchi has previously interned at Stira Pharmaceuticals, Beiersdorf (skincare company), and now Pfizer! In her free time, I love to paint, bake, and read! Excited for this new year of SHE!
Manuel Correia is a senior studying mechanical engineering. Manuel has interned with Boeing, took on JJSlade Research on Aerosol Capture, and is also an HSF Scholar and Physics Learning Assistant. In his free time, he is learning how to code, hiking, spending time with family and friends, and traveling.
Matteo is a Junior at Rutgers University currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. This past summer, he interned at Bechtel as a Construction Field Engineer in New Albany, Ohio. There, he worked closely with concrete, rebar, formwork, and AutoCAD. In his free time, Matteo enjoys his academic hobby of Philosophy. He also enjoys playing soccer, dance Salsa, or read a book.
Katherine Phillips is a Junior currently studying Chemical Engineering and Public Health. She recently interned at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals this past summer. Kathrine works as an Undergraduate Research Assistant for the CBE Department and was recently awarded the Keiko and Gerald Harvey Endowed Scholarship in Engineering. In her free time, Katherine participates in intramural sports teams and is always listening to music.
Frank Mendieta. He is a senior majoring in mechanical engineering. His research is in 3-D printer resin. He enjoys reading books and playing soccer.
Leandra is a junior studying to become a Civil Engineer focused on clean energy and sustainable construction. She started at her local community college, where she got three associates degrees in Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Sciences. This summer, she was given the opportunity to work under PSEG on NJ's first offshore wind farm project. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends and binge-watching shows or cartoons.
Orlando Castillo is currently a sophomore studying Mechanical Engineering at Rutgers. He is the recipient of the Richard N Week's Endowed Scholarship for the 2023-2024 School year after achieving Dean's List in all of his semesters. He is currently involved in two executive boards for both Rutgers Society of Hispanic Engineers and Rutgers Mexican American Student Association. In his free time, he likes to play soccer with friends and video games.
Hirsh Ramani is a senior studying mechanical engineering and computer science at Rutgers University. He has had a summer internship at Signify, where he did software engineering. In his free time, he loves to stay active. Whether it’s swimming, running, or playing a game of soccer, you can count Hirsh in!
Nathaly Alpapucho is a junior majoring in Industrial and Systems Engineering. She is Ecuadorian. This past summer, she interned at Americold Logistics. Nathaly has been part of our SHE familia since sophomore year, where, as general member, she worked with our committees to coordinate Shadow Program and other engaging events. In her free time, she loves binge-watching shows, making Spotify playlists and exploring new food places with friends.
Matthew Reyes is a Senior studying computer science and business analytics and information science at Rutgers. This Summer, Matthew interned at Princeton University's Office of Information Technology. He currently works as a Database Administrator for Coldwell Banker. In his free time, he enjoys experimenting with recipes, playing guitar, hanging out with friends, and creating websites for small business owners.
Kerly Borbor is a Sophomore studying electrical and computer Engineering at Rutgers. Kerly was an EOF counselor this past summer. In her free time, she enjoys playing sports with friends and photographing things she enjoys or her close friends. :)
Sidney Vasquez is a class of 2026 Mechanical Engineering Major. This past summer, he was an EOF counselor. Sidney enjoys playing soccer competitively and for fun. He also enjoys modding his car, going to bachata, salsa, and the Mexican American student association (MASA).
Luke Domingo is a Junior studying computer engineering at Rutgers. He worked as an intern at Accenture, undergoing and operating a project based on JavaScript code and project management. On his free time, you could often find him either solving puzzles, playing video games (like Genshin), or writing stories or creating characters!
Amol Shirodkar is a senior double majoring in Industrial and Systems Engineering and Computer Science. In the past, he has worked at Colgate-Palmolive as a Cloud Engineer Intern and at AT&T as a Software Engineer Intern. He currently works at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey as a Machine Learning Intern. In his free time, he loves playing soccer, cooking, relaxing, taking cool photos, and volunteering for Habitat for Humanity.
